Hire Architect / Engineer to draw up your plans
It is a good idea to talk to your local planning authority before you subnit an application as this may save time in the long run.
Submit your plans with you planning application to your local planning office - these offices are based in your local authority (ie city or county council) and many of their individual websites will give you good advice on what is involved in a planning application. Take into consideration that your dream home will have to comply with the development plan for your area.
In general you will need to include the following in your application for full planning permission:
- Location map (6 copies)
- Site or layout plan (6 copies)
- Other plans elevations and sections
- Copies of public notices (Newspapers & Site)
- A plan showing the position of your site notice
- The appropriate fee
Planning decisions take a minimum of 8 weeks from receipt of your application
