Why Build With SIP's
SIP stands for Structured Insulated Panels, and is a modern, efficient, and cost-effective building technology for the construction of homes, schools, offices, commercial, care, etc.
SIP panels are pre-engineered, manufactured in a modern, purpose-built factory in Athenry, Co. Galway, and transported, ready for erection, to your site.
SIP panels consist of an inner core of high performance insulation sandwiched between two outer layers of oriented strand board (OSB).
Reasons for choosing a SIP structure for your home...
- SIP construction belongs to that group known as MMC (Modern Method of Construction). MMC's deliver superior quality, through accuracy of manufacture, which is a hallmark of future performance and regulatory requirements.
- Being particularly Airtight (values at first fix, without finishes, down to 0.9m3/h/m2 - without membranes - have been achieved), it allows the efficient use of aero thermal and passive solar design features.
- SIP Panels also have superior insulation values. The core of rigid XPS insulation will not sag or slump over time as is the case in some other forms of construction
- SIP homes do not require the use of roof trusses therefore providing an additional habitable room in the roof ('bonus room')
- SIP Homes lock out moisture, prevent drafts and provide a better resistance to airborne sound
- With facings that are made from renewable, sustainable resources, your SIP building also reduces pollution by consuming much less heating and cooling energy - and in so doing, reduces the all important 'carbon footprint' that is destined to become a bigger feature of modern living.
- On site, the quickly enclosed space is more secure, produces a better environment for other trades to begin their specialties, and can be erected faster than a conventional build.
- They are structurally superior, and in uses around the world have survived earthquakes and hurricanes whilst other houses around them were destroyed.
