Why build with SIP's?
An Introduction to why you should build with SIPs
SIP stands for Structured Insulated Panels and it is the latest building technology for the construction of homes, schools, offices etc. SIP Energy Homes structured insulated panels are a pre-engineered building system, manufactured in one location in a new purpose built factory in Athenry, Co. Galway and transported, ready for erection, to your site. SIP’s consist of an inner core of high performance insulation sandwiched between two outer layers of oriented strand board (OSB).
There are many reasons for choosing a SIP structure for your home.....
- Being particularly Airtight (3.25m3/h/m2), it allows the use of aero thermal and passive solar design features.
- SIP Panels also have superior insulation values compared to conventional methods.
- With facings that are made from renewable, farm-grown trees, your SIP Building also reduces pollution by consuming much less heating and cooling energy – and in so doing, reducing the all important ‘carbon footprint’ that is destined to become a bigger feature of modern living.
- On site, the quickly enclosed space is more secure, produces a better environment for other trades to begin their specialities, and can be erected faster than a conventional one.
- They are structurally superior and in uses around the world, have survived earthquakes and hurricanes whilst other houses around them were destroyed.
